About Us
We are a group of ladies who love to bake. We enjoy sharing our Amish Starter and have created this website to help spread this blessing of Amish Friendship Bread Starter.
The Starter we have has been passed around for years. My first batch was delivered to my January 2008.
2011 Update: Oh Dear Lord... My starter died... oh how I cried and cried, the day my starter died. So, I had to search high and low for starter... and could find none. So I figured out how to make the starter itself... From Scratch! Yep, that's right! You can make your own starter from scratch and start your own family tradition.
Amish Starter From Scratch Recipe:
1 cup milk, warmed to 110 F
1/4 cup water, warmed to 110 F
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 packet active dry yeast
Direction:
In a plastic bowl disolve the yeast in the water set for about 10 minutes.
In another larger bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
Add yeast mixture, stir well, let set out loosely covered.
This is day 1
I leave my starter on my counter in a Tupperware One Touch Canister (Container B) it matches my kitchen and doesnt clutter it up with a gooey looking plastic bag.
Enjoy your starter experience... Your family sure will!
